18 Days to Monumental - Marathon Training Update

WOW!!!

I did sign up for the Monumental Half Marathon here in Indy again.  It will be Saturday, November 2nd.  I'm hoping for a little bit better weather than we had last year, but I'll take whatever is thrown at us.

This year's shirt and medal are looking very cool!!  The picture of the medals are the medal from last year on the left and this years medal on the right.

Now, it's the same basic medal whether you do the half or full marathon, the difference is the stamp where it says Marathon, for me will say Half-Marathon.  The ribbon will also be a different color.

AWESOME SHIRT!
I might have wanted to enter just because of that cool shirt!

Off and on Training

Due to some family issues recently, my training schedule has suffered.  It has also suffered due to me being a lazy bum a lot too.  I'm hoping that this week I'm back on track and I MUST continue with the rest of the training plan as-is if I have any hope of making it through the Marathon in January!

I put in 14 miles total last week and I should hit 22+ miles this week.

I can tell it's October in INDY!

Cool and rainy today.  So I did my 3.2 miles on the Treadmill-o-doom!  It had some gremlins stored up in it from not being used for quite some time.  It managed to stick on and I had to use the emergency stop magnet to get it to stop.  I then started it back up, pounded on the controls a bit and it managed to work with me for the rest of the run.

I've forgotten how much different it is to run on the treadmill.  I'm quite certain that I could have probably run the entire 3 miles without doing any interval.  As it was, I really on did 1 1/4 mile interval after I did the 1st mile.  I had it at a pace of 15:00 min/mile and everything was working together very well.

In Perspective - Last Saturdays Long Run

To put this into perspective, I've put a yellow star on how far I'd have run if I had been running this years' Marathon course:

As you can see, I've made it from the Start at Epcot, through the Magic Kingdom, around the Disney World Race Track and on my way to Animal Kingdom.  Approaching the half way point!
