Coming soon!

Where did September go??
OKAY!  Well, all the excitement leading up to vacation, and then being on vacation... whew!

I am working on getting caught up.  Step counts while at Disney World were astronomical!  Not so much since getting home.

Sick
I wound up getting a magical cold from the World of Disney in Florida that took me out for almost 2 weeks.  I took the first 2 days back off of work.  I've been feeling better and better, with just a little cough now that is just irritating.

My weight has finally broken the 270 mark.  Last week I was at 268.

I will begin my 1/2 Marathon training this week, now that I can actually breath again!

I should at least be back to a minimum of a once a week update.  With the weather turning and the daylight hours dwindling, I'm sure that I'm going to have many adventures in training, since I PLAN on continuing much further into fall/winter than I normally do.  I want to avoid getting back onto the treadmill-o-doom for as long as I possibly can.

The main thing I want to get ASAP, are some arm/ankle band flashers, since we've lost a lot of daylight already!
Arm/Ankle Lighted or Flashing bands
I'll keep this one short, as I expect that I'll have a couple of posts this week!

Get straight! Go for it!

Whip it good Weigh-in!
Okay, maybe not so good.  Blah week last week yielded blah results.  No loss, no gain.  I'll take it.

I used the same method of weighing in as I did last week, until I can figure out what I'm going to do for a home scale.

I would like to get the Garmin scale, but I just cannot imagine spending that much money on a scale.  It sure would be nice to have it automatically sync to my Garmin profile though...

B210K Third Week Review
The third week wasn't much better than last week!

The weather this past week has just been playing havoc with my running schedule.  I know I should break down and use the Treadmill-o-doom, but I just really hate getting on that thing anymore.  It just feels so much better being outside.

I got Day 2 in on schedule, but didn't get day 3 in.

I did get a half hour of run/walk testing in on Thursday.  THAT went rough!   I tried 2:30 run / 0:30 walk.  My pacing to start with was HORRIBLE.  I still have to work hard at being able to judge my pace.  I don't think I'll ever be a race pacer!  LOL!

This week is off to a GOOD start, so I'm going to try and keep that positive energy going this week!

We're up to 66 minutes of activity!

Yesterday I did the Week 4 Day 1 and it went pretty good.  It was much cooler and much less humid than it has been in a while.  So, right out of the gate on my first run segment, I started out too quick.  After several bad start attempts, I finally was able to get into a decent rhythm.

Extra Effort on B210K W4 D1!
Funny thing about my 1st run for week 4 of Bridge to 10K.  I was on the last run segment and the app tells me 10 minutes left... then 5 minutes left... then... nothing.

So, I just chalk it up to my just wanting that last segment to end.  Nope!  The app messed up again and never told me I was finished on that last run segment!  So, my last run segment ended up being 23 minutes long!  WHEW!  I ended the running when it finally told me that I had completed my run for today, what it normally tells me after my 5 minutes of cool down.

Yesterday I also recorded my fastest 5K on this watch, at 54 minutes.

My fastest recorded 5K is 50 Minutes back on March 23rd, 2013!

Counting Down!
17 Days until I'm on Vacation!  (I finally fixed the counter over to the left side of my blog posts.)

134 Days until Walt Disney World Marathon Weekend!  The ONE thing I still REALLY want from the Disney races is to get the Coast to Coast medal.  That is a special medal you receive for for doing a race at both Disney World and Disneyland within one calendar year.  So, we shall see what the future holds for me on Disney races.

This world needs more Devo!
I went to school in Naperville, Illinois for 7th grade, at Waubonsie Jr/Sr High (near the famous home of Wayne & Garth in Aurora!).  In gym class, we would start almost each class by running around the gymnasium.  This is the song that they played A LOT! (Maybe every time?)  So, ever since then, I've associated this song with running.

SHOCK!

Shocking weigh-in!
After being at a family event, this almost never happens to me!

I did do MUCH better at controlling my food intake.  It still wasn't good, but not nearly as bad as I would normally do.

So, seeing a loss of 4 pounds was still a big shock, since that is the biggest loss I've had in 11 weeks!!

This week goes to Me 2016!

Luggage has been ordered!

eBags TLS 25" Expandable Upright
A new sale went on today and I went ahead and ordered this one!  At the time I ordered it, there were only 7 red ones left (now 6)!  What amazes me is, there are only 4 of the "eggplant" ones left!

2 compartments have dual zippers that are lockable.  So, I'm also ordering a set of 2 luggage locks.

FORGE TSA Locks with Open Alert
That bright green should show up really nice on that red bag!

That's the one thing that was nice about the Samsonite Tank, NOBODY else every had those.  It was very easy for me to find it on the luggage carousel!

Of course, it usually was MUCH easier to spot with the big yellow "OVERWEIGHT" tag on it too...

I'll keep the tank around, as I can still use it for road trips, but air travel with it is not gonna happen anymore.

Farewell Samsonite Super Tank
Supposedly, I can take it to the Samsonite Store at the Outlet mall south of here and they can send it in to be fixed.  If I remember, someday I may just do that.  Of course, it may not be worth it, depending on how much it may cost!

The countdown continues!

Vacation in 31 Days!  I have to update the countdown function on the right side, it's a day off!  I forgot to update it when I got the flights!

148 Days until Marathon Weekend at Walt Disney World!

SHOCK!

Beyond UP!

Ugh!
This morning, I felt like:

Calves and hamstrings were very tight when I woke up this morning.

So, instead of going out to walk, I used the Stick, Foam roller and tennis ball liberally this morning before hopping in the shower.  Then I did some light stretches.

After all of that and a hot shower, I felt much better.  It was time to head to work though...

Getting the steps in.
I knew it was going to be tough tonight.  It's getting hotter and I had a LOT to make up for in the step count department today!  I didn't get much in at work, which made it worse yet.

Then, I get home and Thunderstorm warnings are up.  So I check the weather website and it showed that I would have about 45 minutes before it started raining.  I hurried up and got into some gear that I didn't mind getting soaked if it started raining before I got back home.

I got one loop around the neighborhood and then I started to hear thunder.  I went inside and then finished up on the Treadmill-o-doom.

So, it ended up about a mile outside and a couple of miles on the TM-o-D.

Star Trek tomorrow night!

I'll be going to see the new Star Trek movie tomorrow night, so I'm hoping that the weather is okay in the morning to get in as much walking as I can.

I'm going to be putting off C25K W7D3 until Saturday morning or late evening, as it's supposed to be extremely hot this weekend!

Whew! Made it through the first day of Week 3!

C25K W3 D1
It was a warm one out there for my 1st day of Week 3!  I managed fairly well.  I wound up having to pause or slow down a couple of times in the 3 minute segments, but I started getting into the swing of things.  I'm fairly sure that week 3 will not be a repeat week.

Instead of waiting until after dinner, I did this one right after I got home from work.  Bad storms are entering the area for tonight and I wanted to make sure I got it in!

Well, I made it in plenty of time, as the storms didn't start in this area until a shore while ago (about 8:30-8:45 PM).

10K Steps Goal Achieved!
I was also able to him my minimum 10,000 steps for today!  Maybe even over 11,000 by the time I hit the sack tonight.

Weigh-In tomorrow!

Well, we'll see if tomorrow comes through any better than last week!  Since I've been more active, I'm hoping to see a little something for the effort!

Countdowns!
Looking over to the right side of my blog, I see that I have 82 days (or less, depending on when you read this) until I'm on vacation at Disney World again!

We are also now under the 200 day count until WDW Marathon Weekend as well!

Tomorrow or Wednesday (I think) I should be hearing back about setting up room reservations for January!

Garmin Watch Development
My Garmin FR230 with my custom Mickey Mouse Watch Face
Since Apple has the Mickey Watch face, I decided to create my own Mickey Mouse watch face for my Garmin Forerunner 230.  Since Mickey is licenced with Apple, this is not official by any means.  It's just something for myself (and some friends...)

The file size is HUGE due to the Development kit having nothing to be able to rotate the images of the hands.  So, I had to create a separate image for each minute and each hour and half hour positions.

In Garmin's development message forums, it was stated that it would be in a future build.  That was stated a long time ago.  Given new information, I don't think it's coming at all.

Well, Dev build 2.10 beta just released, and I'm none to happy to hear about this.  You cannot use any of the 2.0 Dev kits for the "OLDER" watches!!!  Are you F'n KIDDING ME!!??!!
Yes, indeed.  Only the devices in YELLOW in the chart above can take advantage of the new version.

It get's even BETTER!  The current build that I use will only be supported for 6 more months!  So that means, as developers that create apps for the Garmin's will eventually quit making builds for the other watches because it'll just be a pain in the ass to support 2 ore more different versions of apps!!!

Now, in 2.0+, they still do not have the facility to be able to rotate an image.  That has become a moot point.  So, 1 maybe 2 more updates before the end of the year.

So, Garmin is basically saying that you're watch will only have a program lifespan of 2 years, after that, sucks to be you.  Sorry, you just bought your watch?  Yeah, programs for it will be obsolete next year sometime.

IT GETS EVEN BETTER!  The next round of firmware updates for watches will only allow for signed apps to run on the watch.  BUT!  Only 2.0+ apps can be signed.  So, in essence, I will not be able to use my Mickey Mouse watch face in the future at some point.

So, either I stop updating my firmware... which could make it stop working with the Garmin web dashboard at some point... or I just give up on my Mickey Mouse Watch face...  bastards just want you to buy a new watch every 2 years.

End of rant.

I was originally planning on running in the Indianapolis Mini on May 4th, but a Disney running buddy from the W.i.S.H. team that I'm part of will be running in the Flying Pig.  With the offer to share expenses, it made it a deal that would be hard to pass up.  After all, they Flying Pig is celebrating an anniversary this year and that means special BLING!

Cincinnati Flying Pig
Future Plans??
I made a promise to myself that if I dropped 20 pounds by the time 2014 Marathon weekend registration price increased, I would sign up for the FULL MARATHON!  Current tally has me having already lost 1/2 of that.  As of last weeks weigh in for Dad and I, I was back down to the lowest I had been since a year prior.  243.  The illness I had after coming home from Marathon Weekend took 12 pounds off and aftrer I was feeling better I put a couple of those pounds back on.

How am I going to pull this off?  I do not know at this point.  This trip could possibly be the first trip in quite some time that I go to Florida and not go to the parks! (Except for the run through during the race!) In looking at the plan above, I'm going to be putting almost 200 miles on shoes that have already begun to show age.  I plan on making them work for as long as I can while training.  Once I get to the point that I'll be training for the Full... I'm probably going to need at least 2 more pairs of shoes!  I'm keeping an eye out for some sales like I ran into when I got shoes at the end of their model year for cheap... but I think I've already missed that mark!

Garmin Forerunner 610
I would REALLY love to be able to upgrade my GPS watch to the Garmin Forerunner 610.  I just really don't see that happening.  Even with getting the watch only, as my accessories from my current watch will work with this one, still puts it a large sum of cash output.

Lesson learned from this past Marathon Weekend is the fact that I cannot tell the difference between my watch beeping and the 10,000 other people with Garmins beeping.  The 610 has the option to vibrate.

In looking at training plans, the weekend that my plan I'm thinking of using has me running a half marathon will fall EXACTLY on the weekend for this year's Indy Monumental Half!  So, I may be thinking of doing that also!

So, what is this all about?  Well, 2015 is an anniversary year for the Goofy at Disney World.  A Marathon and a half all in one weekend!  I would like to do this with my W.i.S.H. teammates!  Am I crazy?  Quite possibly.  Or maybe just committed, as in SHOULD BE.

Remaining adventures of Marathon Weekend
I'm still working on my pictures for that weekend in January.  I swore I had certain pictures, then I realized that they were on my iPhone.  So, I've been sorting through those.

With a new training regimen about to begin, I'm hoping that I'll start blogging this as I go, as I have in the past.
