Once again, Dad wins the week.  I thought I was going to wind up gaining again, but thankfully I kept a close watch on calories over the weekend, even though I went out to dinner and the movies on Saturday.  I knew I was going to have a calorie heavy night, so I took it easy at breakfast and lunch.

Long Run Saturday

My long run on Saturday turned into an even longer run than intended.  I had plotted out a run over 4 overpasses that would have been about a half mile longer than my normal 2 overpass long run.  As I got closer to overpass #3, I soon discovered that this overpass was not going to be safe to run over.  It is a narrow 2 lane road with only rain gutters along the sides.  So no safe area to run along the side of the road on the overpass.  So I then turned around and back-tracked the way that I had come.  It made my walk/run total almost 6.75 miles!

Once I was back home, I hit the shower and got ready to go out for the evening.  I had plans to meet up with some Disney Friends (they have a podcast, the Disney, Indiana Podcast) for dinner at Cheeseburger in Paradise.  We had a nice chat together and a very good dinner (seriously, WHY have they changed the name of the Cheeseburger in Paradise Cheeseburger to the Beach burger??).  We then went down to Franklin, Indiana to the Artcraft Theater to see Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade.  It was originally to be Raiders of the Lost Ark, but 4 weeks before they were to show it, the studio pulled the film from release due to the Blu-Ray box set coming out.

We had a lot of fun.  I wound up winning a door prize at the movie, a kids toy, go figure.

Reunion time!

This upcoming weekend is going to be a Family Reunion weekend.  I'll be travelling up to Winamac/Star City, Indiana.  I plan on doing my long run Saturday morning on the Rails to Trails (Panhandle Pathway) path that goes through town.  I think I'll feel safer in that rural setting than attempting the Rails to Trails paths here in Indy.  Since I'll be heading up there after work Friday, it'll be interesting to set this run up.  I'll actually drive over the the Trail head parking area, a short distance from where I'll be spending the night.  I'll have to remember to pack a big towel to put on the car seat and take along my running pouch to carry a couple of items while I'm out running.

The big issue will be for me to try and monitor my food intake closer than I usually do at the Reunions!  I have a bad habit of just letting myself totally pig out (the food is always sooooo gooood!).

The funniest part of this upcoming weekend is that I'll probably be seeing relatives that live very close to me here in Indy, but I usually only see them at reunions!  LOL.
