Week 23 Report! The WHOLE SHEBANG!

Well, here we are!  Next week's weigh in we'll be in Walt Disney World!  We'll be there in just 3 DAYS!!

Overall, I've not lost as much as I was hoping for, but it appears that beginning on the Bridge to 10K program seems to have started ramping up the the old calorie generator a little bit this week.  FINALLY!

Again, I doubt we'll have anyplace to weigh in next week... I've never really LOOKED for a scale while we've been at Walt Disney World before!  For next week's post, I'll at least try and get a picture of Dad and myself together and get it posted here!

Tonights run was terrible due to me running before I'd gotten anything to eat.  I've gotten used to having something to eat and then running an hour to 90 minutes later.  Like last Saturday morning, I just didn't have enough to keep it going the whole time.  It was VERY rough.  I also wound up with terrible cramps.  First in my calf, then hamstring... then toes.  The toes is where I thought I was going to trip an fall down, as I had gotten back into a running pace again when it happend.

Thursday I'll need to run in the AM, as as soon as I get out of work, I'm on the road to Florida.  Gonna be a couple of long days in the car.

Now that the Disney World vacation trip is here, it's now down to 130 days till the 1/2 Marathon Weekend!  Let's see.. what... 19 weeks away?  My goal is to try and be at or below 220 by the time it's race time!

Week 22 Report! I'm Stuck!

Tonight was my first night on the Bridge 2 10K program.  Week 1 - Day 1 went well.  Now on to the weekly weigh in!  It looks like I'm at a plateau right now.  Hopefully with entering into the B210K program will help kick start some of the weight loss again!

There was actually some light rain in the area tonight, no T-Storms so I went ahead and went out to do my first day of Bridge to 10K.  By the time I actually headed out and started my warm up walk, it had pretty much stopped raining.  It just drizzled on me a few times during the run.

I wasn't sure how I'd be on this run, as it really ended up being a substantial increase from my ending of C25K.  It actually went well, as with the rain going through, it had cooled down substantially.  It was only in the low 70's when I was out tonight!!  I almost felt COLD!

I'm glad it was cooler, as I think that really helped me get through the added 10 minutes, compared to my last run.  So the goal of C25K was basicly to get up and running for 30 minutes straight.  B210K doubles it and takes us up to running for 60 minutes at a time, in six weeks.

Each workout includes a 5 minute warmup walk and 5 minute cooldown walk
Week 1 Duration: 53 min.
Run 10 min/walk 1 min Repeat x 4.
Week 2 Duration: 57 min.
Run 15 min/walk 1 min. Repeat x 3.
Week 3 Duration: 63 min.
Run 17 min/walk 1 min. Repeat x 3.
Week 4 Duration: 66 min.
Run 18 min/walk 1 min. Repeat x 3.
Week 5 Day 1: Duration: 55 min. Run 22 min/walk 1 min. Repeat x 2.Day 2: Duration: 61 min. Run 25 min/walk 1 min. Repeat x 2.Day 3: Duration: 71 min. Run 30 min/walk 1 min. Repeat x 2.
Week 6 Duration: 70 min.
Run 60 min.

So that's what I have programmed into my RunKeeper App on my iPhone.  The next six weeks takes me up to almost the time to start training for the 1/2 Marathon.  My official start date for training for that will be October 16th.  I will be on a 12 week program for that, with the actual last day for that program being the actual 1/2 Marathon race date of 1/7/12!

I'm a Couch to 5K (#C25K) Graduate!

I've managed to snag a FEW pictures of the journey along the way.  Let's see the progression over these past months!  I began near the beginning of this year weighing in at the Doctors office at #282!  By the time I started C25K, I had managed to drop down to #275 by March 22, 2011.

When I checked the weather for tonights run, it looked like I was in for some light rain.  No T-Storms, so I figure it's a GO!  The weather I got was SUNNY and HUMID!  Rain held off and the sun stayed out almost 100% of the time I was out for my run.  It was murder trying to keep a faster pace, but I put the most I could into it.

My Polar RS300X Heart Rate Monitor shows that I stayed in the 170's for most of the run, which is higher than I've manged to keep it at so far.  Usually I'm in the 160's on the long segment run.

Down side of it being so blasted hot & humid was I was sweating tons and I finished my water bottle about 3/4's of the way through the run! 

Along this portion of my journey to loose #100, I've now accumulated tons of new websites to follow and read.  I've also picked up a lot of new jargon, and thanks to this page, you might be able to decipher some of what I've been blabbering about these past few months!  I've read many inspiring stories of people that are doing the very same thing I'm going to do.  Make it down to Disney World next January and complete the 15th Annual Disney World  1/2 Marathon!  

I've found out that several of my "Disney" friends are also going to be down there that weekend and I'm really looking forward to seeing all of them again.  Some of them are doing the full Marathon, and one is doing the Goofy Challenge, which is the 1/2 on Saturday and the Full on Sunday!! 

Well, I see by my counters on the right side there, as of Today, I'm down to 13 Days till I'm at Disney World with Dad and my Step-Mom!  Down to 140 days till the Marathon Weekend!!  I've found a running trail sheet for where we are staying at:

We will be staying at the Riverside portion of the resort this time.  This will be my first time over there.  I've loved the times I've stayed at the French Quarter portion of the resort.  I'm definitely planning on going to see my friend Yehaa Bob Jackson a time or two while we are there!

Well, on the contest front, I think Dad's thrown in the towel.  I think I've got something in mind for our contest now!

Week 20 Report! A wet and soggy tale....

This week, Dad held the line at least and I dropped one pound to be below 250 pounds since I can't remember when!  We've moved into the final stages!  Week 24 is the final contest week, let's see how Dad does in these last few weeks.

So I head out the door for tonights go at Week 8 Day 1 of C25K (5 minute warm up, 28 minute run, 5 minute cool down.)  Dark clouds overhead, but to the west it's nice and blue sky.  I start up the RunKeeper app and away I go.  I've gotten into the habit that about the 1/2 block mark, I'll check to see if it's keeping my milage... and sure enough, tonight it was hanging again.

So I reboot the iPhone and continue on.  Once again, I had 2 back to back 5 minute warm ups, then I started my jog.  It was MUCH cooler than it's been around here lately, and I seemed to be keeping a better pace than I had been since I started running outside.  I get to my normal 1 mile marker and it begins to rain.  I mean these rain drops were coming down looked HUGE.  At first I thought it was hailing.  I figure, I might as well get used to wet weather running, as the Disney 1/2 will go rain or shine.

Then, the lightning started.  ERRRT!  I'm at the point that I can turn back down our street to head home, and I do.  I know that it's about a 5 min walk for me, so I slow down to begin my cool off routine.  That's when it REALLY cuts loose.  I'm immediately SOAKED.  So I begin to "speed walk" like I'm Dan Aykroyd in Doctor Detroit (okay, I'm like one of 3 people that like this movie in the world,  so click on the link and you'll see the DEVO song for the movie, and also get the Dan Aykroyd reference.)  I get back home, all dried off... and it's back to being sunny out.  *sigh*  Oh well, better to be safe than sorry.

I've ordered another bit of "running gear".  I've ordered a RoadID so that if something should happen while I'm out and about... or while I'm at the 1/2 Marathon, they can get vital information immediately.  I'm getting the wrist one, I'd thought about he shoe tag, but have heard of too many stories where some one involved in a pedestrian/Auto accident, they quite often loose their shoes.  So wrist it is.  I don't think I could stand the ankle version, as I can hardly stand to wear socks that go above the shoe any more.

Well, by looking at the Magic Counter on the side of my page, we're down to TWENTY-FOUR DAYS till Disney World!!!  151 Days till the 1/2 Marathon Weekend!  I've found out that some more Disney friends of mine will be in the 1/2 this year and we're going to try and get together at least sometime during the weekend!  I think they've both been in it before and I'll be the noob.  So I'm sure my corral will be the last and they may be placed up ahead of me in the starting corrals.  (In case they read this, Yo!  Dude!  And HI to one of the Cats!)

Week 19 Report! Ups 'n' Downs....

Up'n Down.  Dad's trend continues backwards with us at five weeks to go till our final check in!  I'm back down plus one, bringing me to the 250 even mark!

Well, I know when I finished up with Week 6 Day 3 on Sunday that I thought I'd repeat, I thought against it right before I headed out for my run tonight.

I looked at Week 7, and it is all repeats of Week 6 Day 3, 5 min warm up, 25 minute run, 5 minute cool down.  So I decided that I only had one small slowdown on Sunday, I went ahead with Week 7 Day 1 tonight.  Click here for tonights RunKeeper log.

The Weather here in Indy has still been scorchers.  It was a "feels Like" temp of 94 when I was out running.  It was a bit windier today than it has been, which was a little refreshing to have a breeze on me instead of just cooking in the sun. 

Well, yesterday I got news that the owners of the house I'm currently renting want to take it back over.  Currently there is a Realtor that is the agent for them that collects our rent each month.  Now right now I don't know if that means the owners will want to sign a lease agreement with us directly, or if I'm going to have to move at the end of Sept.  I'm hoping that I'll hear some news later this week on what way this is going to go down.  It'll really be a shame if I've got to move, as I've gotten comfortable here.  We were in our last place for 15 years, be being someplace different this past year has really been an adjustment.

I don't want to end this on a down note, so I'll just end with my regular Disney Countdowns!  31 Days is what the ticker on the right tells me!  158 Days until the 1/2 Marathon!
